Der 30-jährige türkische Pianist Emre Yavuz zeigt mit dieser ganzen Rachmaninov-CD sein hoch virtuoses Können und auch sein poetisches Gestaltungsvermögen.

Yavuz verfügt über eine stupende Technik, einen fein differenzierten Anschlag, einen subtilen Umgang mit dem Pedal - und, ebenso wichtig: Er besitzt Geschmack.

Um sich Rachmaninoffs epischer, emotional weit ausgreifender musikalischer Schöpfung in mehr als nur technisch brillanter Weise zu nähern, braucht es eine Form von Seelenverwandschaft. Der türkische Pianist Emre Yavuz scheint sie zu besitzen.

Er ist ein Virtuose, der seine Virtuosität nicht ausstellt.

Töne schwirren wie getragen von russischem Brokat. Es geht über Berg
 und Tal. Dann überwiegen leise Töne, schmiegen sich an, werden 
nach und nach wieder betont. Ein Wirbel ertönt.

To make thrice familiar repertoire sound fresh and vibrant without resorting to eccentricity or distortion is easier said than done, yet the Turkish-born-Vienna-based pianist Emre Yavuz does precisely that throughout this Rachmaninov release.

Most admirable is how, even in the thorniest and taxing passages, Emre Yavuz never loses track of the composer's narrative and manages to flesh out every minute detail buried under a deluge of notes.

From my perspective, this has been worth the wait with this disc one of the most enjoyable and indeed challenging discs of Rachmaninoff’s piano music that I have heard in a long time.
